Dongara Weekend @ Priory Lodge 17-19 August 07

For those who wish to travel in convoy we plan to meet at 10.30 am for an 11.00 am departure at Ginger’s, the big truck stop service station on Great Northern Highway, approximately 1 km past the junction of West Swan Rd.  We will travel via Brand Highway then take a left at Bibby Rd to Cervantes, then follow the Indian Ocean Road to Jurien Bay where we will take a lunch break.  Heading off north again on the Indian Ocean Road until we re-join Brand Highway approximately 30 kms south of Dongara.  Shortly after we take a left into Kailis Drive, KSO George Street, turn right at Leander then right again into Dominics Road to Priory Lodge.  Book in, find your rooms and get settled.

Happy Hour at Priory commences at 5 pm in the Colonial Bar with discounted drinks and entertainment!!  Friday night dinner is booked for 7 pm in the 1881 Dining Room, Priory Hotel.  8.30 pm entertainment is by The Dave Mann Collective.  I have just been informed that Friday night is dress up - “Frenchys Funked Out Fancy Dress Fridays”.  As we did not have prior notice of this it is your choice whether you want to participate!!

Saturday

8 am Breakfast at your leisure.  The dining room offers full breakfast or continental breakfast.

10 am meet …? (decide meeting point Friday pm).  This morning we are off on a run to sunny Geraldton to visit the WA Museum (Batavia artifacts, etc.) then up to the HMAS Sydney Memorial Lookout.  St  Francis Xaviers Cathedral is an optional tour.    We will then take a run back to Greenough via Utakarra and Walkaway.  We will stop for lunch at Greenough Café where Mel will have delicious homemade soup and Turkish bread ready for us to be followed by tea or coffee ($14.50 per head). I believe they have lovely home made cake as well! After lunch take a leisurely stroll through the historic settlement.

Dinner tonight is Julz Kitchen at 7 pm which is within walking distance of Priory Hotel.  Tasting plate starters followed by your choice of: Grilled Red Emperor with Garlic Prawns, Lemon pepper or Salt and Pepper Calamari or Julies speciality:  500 kg juicy plump Prawns with salad,  dipping sauce and crusty bread.    All meals come with fresh salads and fries.   Wine will be supplied to the table.  The cost of tonight is covered by your deposit.

Sunday
