February Cobweb Run

The February cobweb run to the Wallis’ forest retreat for a sausage sizzle was well attended and a great evening.  This time not only did Sandra and Arthur supply all the food and wine, but wildlife as well.  I personally saw a possum shimmy up a tree and Mike swears he saw an echidna. Several kangaroos also made a shy appearance.  It was nice to see Colin Lewis looking trim, taut and terrific and to catch up with other Healefriends we had not seen for a while.

Thanks again Sandra and Arthur.

Whiteman Park

Due to one reason or another it looked as though the number of cars on display would be rather low. However , with some ringing around by Nigel and myself , a total of 14 cars showed up. Six Mk1 Sprites, including Ian Thomson's white car from Bunbury , along with two later model Sprites made up the bulk of the display. By the way there were two 3000's , one 100/6 and three BN1's including Paul Pendrill's new purchase ,a smart looking 'green over cream ' BN1 from Adelaide.

The turnout of Sprites was a great attraction and was great for their 50th. celebration. As can be seen by the photos there was a great variety of colours , all very attractive.

Despite predictions of showers , it was a beautiful day . Quite cool with fog on the way up at 7am ,but quickly warmed up.

It appeared to me that there were more people walking around this year, certainly there was a lot more interest in all of our cars. Our members were kept quite busy with inquires about their cars and the Club in general. I have several items to pass on to Rod and Nigel for technical matters , John Rowe was also giving his phone number to several people. I have a couple of items for  Carole to consider for the Magazine.

Other club displays were very good with a wide variety of makes and models, I only managed a quick scoot around , but the Indian motor bike display intrigued me .They had an old rusty 1920's Single cylinder "toonking "over as sweet as you like , apparently this model is extremely rare. This one is the only complete machine in Australia and only one other in the world, in the U. S. A.

Thanks to all who made the effort to " Shine and Show ". I think all who came had a good time. When I had packed up and was ready to leave at about 4pm there were still several of our people still sitting in the shade enjoying a good yarn.

PS George Pickering rang me to say he left his green folding chair behind, he would appreciate a ring if any one picked it up.( 0419927994).
